As I walked into The Donald Stanley convention certain I realized almost instantly how different Anime Central will be from Wizard World and other comic conventions I have attended.
After picking up my press pass I had to deal with the most important matter at the con, street passes. If you don't know what a street pass is I'll explain quickly. Your Nintendo 3DS talks to a passing 3DS and you trade your Mii Avatar and various other items for different games you both may be playing. At C2E2 I hardly got 20 of them the whole weekend, ACEN was different. Everyone here must have a 3DS for I spent a good hour catching up with all my passes.
After checking in the hotel and eating a not so expensive sausage with grilled onions we headed back to the convention center to check out the shopping and video games.
It takes a long time to get through the market. It's huge, making wizard worlds vendor section look insultingly small. The market had a variety of items to choose from, but I found my most wanted almost right away; a red fez that actually for my huge head.
On to the video arcade and a pleasant surprise... Import rhythm games from Japan. Awesome. After a short Q & A with voice actor Mike McFarland I had to end the day and head back home. Cannot wait for day two.
