Today we get a better look at what Flashpoint is. In the first issue we were thrown right into the crazed action of Flashpoint just like our protagonist, Barry Allen. It's a world where Bruce Wayne isn't Batman, Abin Sur is alive and The Flash never existed. Flashpoint 1 gave my inner fanboy a chubby and the Booster Gold tie-in cause me to squee with joy; this isn't some elseworld story, this is real!
So opening the shipment for me today was like Christmas morning. I unwrapped all the presents anxiously hoping to get all the pieces for this weeks Flashpoint and it's accompanying mini-series. Now I can find out more about the war between Wonder Woman and Emperor Aquaman and put on all four buttons we're giving out tomorrow.
Flashpoint Issue 2 opens up on Deathstroke and his merry men scavenging the ruined coast of France for sunken museums. Paris is completely underwater and under the reign of emperor Aquaman who we get to meet when the greedy Pirates get a bit too close to the coast. If you ever thought Aquaman was a pansy you should check this futhermucker out, he obviously didn't become Emperor of Atlantis by ruling with a soft hand.
Middle middle middle stuff Barry and Batman that I don't to spoil and we skip ahead to our first meeting with the Amazons. They are brutal warriors like Amazons should be. Armored to the hilt and capable of taking anyone down, so when a strange man comes behind their territory lines it doesn't take long before he is subdued by Wonder Woman's lasso.
As Wonder Woman demands answers from this stranger we stare into her gorgeous blue eyes drawn by Andy Kubert and I realize it's the new version of WW. This only confirms to me that we might not see the Wonder Woman of past much longer, instead we'll have the newly "revamped" Amazon Warrior when Flashpoint ends.
As we reached the climax of Issue 2 I found myself so enthralled that I barely noticed the ghetto music coming out of the apartment across the gang way. It ends on such a WTF moment that I have no clue where it's going to go next, but I know where I'm going... Flashpoint Abin Sur #1 is next for me!
