Another Day , Anot her Avenger’s team. After the Civil War, Secret Invasion, Dark reign of Osborn and the Fall of Asgard the Marvel Universe has been through A LOT of turmoil, so it’s no surprise with the coming of the Heroic Age we’ll be getting a bit of happiness, love and a NEW Avengers team line up.
Steve Rogers has the daunting task of talking to former Avengers and new friends to pull them together and form a new team of trusting heroes. Easier said than done; as soon as The Ave ngers get together for the first meet and greet a blast from the past (or Future?) interrupts the m. Are they up for the challenge with a newly semi formed team?
I hope so. Bendis has brought back the Golden Age feel for The Heroic Age, but I can’t help but have flashbacks to the start of his Mighty Avengers run, which also started with an Ultron based plot (don’t worry, I didn’t give away too much there). Is it possible that Bendis may have run out of ideas or just that all the good stories involve old school plot lines. I think it’s the latter.
Romita Jr.’s art work is great, but leaves a bit to be desired as I moved on in the book. A little cartoony and nothing truely ‘Heroic” about it.
All in all, it’s a decent start, but after Siege I‘ve been a bit disenchanted with Marvel, but I’m willing to give them a chance to redeem themselves.
