| Brightest Day Issue 2 |
|
YAY…I’m loving this series and loving that I’m loving it. After Blackest Night I was worried about the follow up, but with Johns and Tomasi attached to the core title (Brightest Day) I needn’t worry; It Rocks!!! Now that I got that out of the way…
In Issue 2 we’ve got The Atom trying to split apart The Firestorms, Martian Manhunter makes a visit to his past as a new enemy emerges and the newly alive Deadman finds out what happened to the Anti-Monitor. |
| The Dark Tower The Journey Begins #1 |
|
Dude, if you like Stephen King and you were a fan of The Dark Tower series then you’ll love this comic book adaption. If you gave up on the series like I did (Before Wizards and Glass came out there was like a ten year gap and I totally was lost without rereading books 1-3) then this is realllly not the series for you.
Taking place during the first book, Journey Begins is a flashback of when Roland reconnects with Aileen after the destruction of the Gunslingers. Art work by Sean Phillips doesn’t derail much from Jae Lee’s previous work, but I just feel lost in this series! 3 out of 5 Nuts |
| DC Universe Legacies Issue 1 |
|
Told in two parts; DCU Legacies updates and reintroduces us to their Golden Age Superheroes. In the first story (written by Len Wein and art by Scott Colins & Andy and Joe Kubert) we’re introduced to two impressionable youth’s just trying to make a buck as the world is introduced to a new kind of crime stoppers, the Super Hero. Should they start a life of crime or work hard for their money? Perhaps a valuable lesson taught to them by Sandman and Atom Smasher will help lead them in the right direction.
The follow up story (also by Len Wein with art by JG Jones) focuses on the more mystical side of the JSA while two detectives discuss how the Spirit and Dr. Fate are all smoke and mirrors while investigating a case. 4 out of 5 Nuts |
| Justice League of America Issue 45 |
|
What an enjoyable Brightest Day tie-in. It re-introduces Jade to new comers, gave us a bit of background on Jay and started the JSA/JLA cross over event. PHEW. The ending had me a bit worried though as it bordered in to the cheesy/great section.
